Work Experience
Nanjing Institute of City & Transport Planning Co, Ltd. (June 2018-August 2018)
Internship in Nanjing, China
· Designed underground car park (3 layers) of Yunshu Apartment in Nanjing (traffic arrangement & sign placement);
· Traffic evaluation of Maternal and Child Health Hospital & Electronic Commerce Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province (including geographic analysis, volume calculation, demand analysis, public transit analysis and suggestions);
· Road modification for 4 major intersections in Downtown Jurong, Jiangsu Province using SynChro & VISSIM.
· Studied traffic condition of 16 intersections in Pingdingshan City with volume, equivalent axles and transit passengers.
China Design Group Co., Ltd. (June 2016-Sep. 2016)
Internship in Nanjing, China
· Participated in the design of Provincial Road S338 (highway) using AutoCAD;
o Alignment design and horizontal design at Nanjing City section along the highway;
o Arranged highway signs and markings along the road;
o Longitudinal calculation and design along the section, calculating cut and fill;
o Designed thickness of subgrade and surface of the section, calculating their total cost.
Research & Projects
Transit Route Design on Campbellton Road & Langford Pkwy for BeltLine
(Spring 2018)
Directed by Shaun Green from Atlanta Beltline, Atlanta GA
· Alignment design along both roads with MicroStation and ArcGIS (determine routes & begin and end points);
· Station demand analysis and determination using location-allocation in ArcGIS;
· Ridership forecast based on MARTA transit data (both bus and metro line) in the past five years;
· Cost analysis (both capital cost & operating cost) and multi-criteria decision making (deciding which route is optimal).
Shuttle Bus Route Design for Ticket Holders of Atlanta United FC (Spring 2018)
Directed by Dr. Timothy Welch from School of City & Regional Planning, Georgia Institute of Technology
· Demand analysis on season ticket holder population based on divided population data in Atlanta with ArcGIS;
· Separated areas based on demand density (those areas which share higher density are more likely to be covered);
· Decided the location of stations and route alignment based on population and employment;
· Route evaluation and multi-mode comparison with other kinds of vehicles (proving rationality of the new transit route).
An Analysis on Geometric Elements of Roundabout (Spring 2018)
Directed by Dr. Michael P. Hunter from School of Civil Engineering in Georgia Institute of Technology
· Used VISSIM to simulate the peak-hour volume of roundabout with the current geometric values;
· Changed geometric values in VISSIM and output new traffic volumes;
· Compared the results from Synchro and Sidra Intersection with VISSIM and studied their difference.
² A Study of Conflict between Cyclists and Pedestrians on the BeltLine (Fall 2017)
Directed by Dr. Catherine L. Ross & Dr. Randall Guensler from Georgia Institute of Technology
· Video and survey data collection of travel behavior of cyclists and pedestrians along BeltLine;
· Analyzed data with MATLAB and SPSS, comparing requirements among different users;
· Analytical comparison on feasibility of centerline striping, right-of-way, signage, etc.(including requirement and cost);
· Gave suggestions to Atlanta Beltline about optimizing the traffic and sign arrangement on the Beltline.
